International Baccalaureate

What is MYP?

IB MYP WheelHarvest’s International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program is an accredited, educational program found in over 4000 schools in 147 countries throughout the world. IB schools use a student-centered, inquiry-based framework for teaching and learning.  All IB schools center on the IB Learner Profile Traits which aims to develop students who are balanced, caring, communicators, inquirers, knowledgeable, open-minded, principled, reflective, risk-takers and thinkers.

HMS students take courses in eight interconnected IB subjects areas including: Math, Language and Literature, Individuals and Society (History), Science, Physical Education, Language Acquisition (Spanish), Performing/Visual Arts, and Design Cycle. IB students are educated to be open-minded toward international perspectives and are encouraged to take local and global action with their learning--this is especially the case in the culminating 8th grade IB Community Project (to begin 2016-2017 school year).

Value of an IB Education
